I am pleased to inform you that a 2009 Call for Participation (CFP) in the GEO Standards and Interoperability Forum (SIF) is being issued by the Task team for Task AR-09-01a. The CFP document is available at: ftp://ftp.wmo.int/Projects/GEO/SIF_CFP/GEO-SIF-CFP-2009.pdf
The SIF provides advice, expertise, guidance and advocacy on issues relating to standards and interoperability for the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS). It also oversees the GEOSS Standards and Interoperability Registry. Included in this Call is the opportunity to participate in the core SIF management team and to take onother roles that support the work of the SIF, and for identification of interested subject matter experts. Responses are sought from individuals engaged in all of the disciplines and sectors involved in GEOSS. Responses to the Call for Participation should be submitted by 30 November 2009 by filling out the online Form under “Register as SIF Contributor” at
http://seabass.ieee.org/groups/geoss.
For questions and clarifications regarding this CFP, please contact Siri Jodha Singh Khalsa at sirijodha.khalsa@ieee.org. Individuals and organisations responding to this CFP are encouraged to attend a two-day SIF meeting to be held 12-13 November 2009 in Washington, D.C. in conjunction withthe GEO-VI Plenary. Because interoperability is such a critical requirement for the successful implementation of GEOSS, I strongly encourage you to consider responding to this Call for Participation.
