"CODATA together with GO FAIR, RDA, and WDS (the four major international data organisations), are pleased to outline their joint commitment to work together to optimise the global research data ecosystem and to identify the opportunities and needs that will trigger federated infrastructures to service the new reality of data-driven science.

A first concrete example of this is the following ‘Data Together COVID-19 Appeal and Actions’ 

The COVID-19 pandemic presents a major test for our science system and for our research and data infrastructures.  These infrastructures, such as open science clouds and data commons, must serve the needs of science, policy, and humanity not only in ‘normal times’, but also in times of crisis by providing controlled access to quality data in real-time and at scale for a range of scientific- and policy-related responses.

The Data Together organisations are jointly working on the following activities and invite all to contribute:

1. Data Together–GO FAIR Virus Outbreak Data Network (VODAN)
2. The Data Together–RDA COVID-19 Working Group 
3. CODATA ‘Making Data Work for Cross-Domain Grand Challenges’ for launch in 2021

Excellency,
I welcome the decision by the leaders of the Group of Twenty (G-20) to
convene an emergency virtual summit to respond to the catastrophic challenges
posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. As the global health crisis spreads human
suffering and upends the global economy, the world looks forward to concerted
and decisive action by world leaders.
This is above all a human crisis, with multifaceted threats. Even in the
wealthiest countries, we see health systems buckling under pressure. Around the
world, the socioeconomic impacts of the pandemic are already tangible — schools
are closing, already pervasive inequalities are deepening, many countries are
unable to respond to the enormous needs of the elderly; and women, who
represent 70 per cent of health-care workers, are disproportionately affected.
A recession is in prospect. The question is: how long it will last and how much
Damage will it do to the productive capacities of our economies and the
livelihoods of our citizens.
COVID-19 will require a response like none before — a “war-time” plan
in times of human crisis. The G-20 leadership has an extraordinary opportunity
to step forward with a strong response package to address the various threats of
COVID-19. This would demonstrate solidarity with the world’s people,
especially the most vulnerable.
Allow me to share with you 3 critical areas for discussion and
decision-making at the upcoming G-20 meeting:

"RDA COVID-19 Working Group - Urgent Call for Expert Contributions

As an international, consensus-driven, community based organisation, the Research Data Alliance (RDA) has been asked to leverage on the global RDA data community to support the urgent Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.

As a response, RDA has set up a fast track Working Group titled the “RDA COVID-19 Working Group”.

The objective of this Working Group is to clearly define detailed guidelines on data sharing and re-use under the present COVID-19 circumstances to help researchers follow best practices to maximize the efficiency of their work. The guidelines will focus on the management of data originating from different data sources and the development of a system for data sharing in public health emergencies that supports scientific research. This group will provide recommendations on the creation of a common framework and the tools and processes which should be embedded in research practice. Guidelines will adhere to FAIR and other principles and specificities related to omics data, clinical research data and epidemiological data.

The RDA COVID-19 Working Group, which operates according to the RDA guiding principles of Openness, Consensus, Balance, Harmonization, Community-driven, Non-profit and technology-neutral, is OPEN TO ALL. To join, log into the RDA website (or register for free if you are not a member) and then join the group at https://www.rd-alliance.org/groups/rda-covid19. If you know of a colleague who you believe could contribute to this group’s objectives, please forward this message to him/her.

For those who join this group, online collaborative working documents, bi-weekly meetings and frequent updates will be communicated via the group web page and mailing list over the coming days.

This group will work at an unprecedented speed, to deliver a first set of recommendations in 4 weeks, by 15 April 2020, and is co-chaired by:

We hope each of you, your families, and loved ones stay safe, germ-free, and remain in good health. While we are all sad that the entire RDA community was not able to come together for Plenary 15 in Melbourne, our plan is to bring you periodic updates on our progress moving forward. We recognize the emergence and growth of this global pandemic relates directly to many RDA Working and Interest Groups.
The expertise and efforts of our community are invaluable, and we would like you all to know how deeply we recognize and value your commitment. Here are ways are ways to continue with our vital work:

The keynote address this evening (for the Americas time zones) by Priyanka Pillai, Academic Specialist in Research Data Stewardship and Health Informatics, The University of Melbourne, will be presented by webinar (and recorded), focusing on "The Role of Data in a Rapid and Coordinated Response to Infectious Disease Outbreaks." • With the US National Library of Medicine: Please see White House Call to Action that NLM has been involved with on using AI on machine-readable dataset of literature with RDA
• Health-focused groups, including the Reproducible Health Data Services WG, Health Data IG, and Blockchain Applications in Health WG, are promoting implementation of methods to enhance the transparency, reliability, and reproducibility of research results for policy and practice.
• Work from groups in The Humanities, Agriculture and Climate research, Sustainable and Global Development, and Indigenous Data Sovereignty can support efforts to ensure the populations at highest-risk will be recognized, respected, and supported in these times of need.

Finally, we also want to let you know that we are still planning actively for Plenary 16 in Costa Rica. While there are many unknowns regarding the COVID-19 impact for November, we will continue our work towards a wonderful P16 and keep you updated as this progresses. A találkozó eredeti programjának címlapja (CEOS)

A CEOS szervezet műholdas távérzékelési információs rendszerek és szolgáltatások munkacsoport soron következő ülését a COVID-19 világjárvány miatt nem helyszíni találkozó formájában rendezi meg - jelentette be minap a munkacsoport vezetője, Robert Woodcock (CSIRO). A találkozó házigazdája Buenos Airesben a CONAE (argentín űrkutatási ügynökség) lett volna, de a gazdag szakmai programmal szervezett ülés most, - a nagymértékben eltérő zónaidők miatt - szűkített tartalommal, Interneten kerül megrendezésre, amelyben a HSO feladatait ellátó KKM szakfőosztály reményeink szerint továbbra is kap időt hogy távkapcsolatban a legfrissebb releváns eredményekről és törekvésekről bejelentést tegyen. Az összekötői jelentés ezúttal is összefoglalót ad az MFTTT fenntartható fejlődésért munkacsoportnak (WG4SDG) a téradatok/ földmegfigyelési adatok felhasználása érdekében kifejtett  proaktív tevékenységéről.

Ülést tartott az Űrkutatási Tudományos Tanács

Ma délután Pap László akadémikus elnökletével és Ferencz Orsolya Ildikó dr. űrkutatásért és űrtevékenységért felelős miniszteri biztos részvételével második ülését tartotta a KKM Űrkutatási Tudományos Tanácsa. 
Az ülésen az űrmérnök-képzés és a nemzeti űrstratégia kontextusában többek között bejelentésre került, hogy a Magyar Földmérési, Térképészeti és Távérzékelési Társaság vezetése a Fenntartható Fejlődési Célok Munkacsoportja (WG4SDG) három éves munkájára alapozó, kormányzati döntéshozók számára készített vezetői összefoglalóját és háttéranyagát a KKM illetései számára is megküldi. A szakmai anyag tárgya: "Térinformációs és földmegfigyelési infrastruktúra a fenntartható fejlődés szolgálatában". Az anyagot Dr. Mihály Szabolcs c.egyetemi tanár, a WG4SDG elnöke jegyzi.
