Mai postánkból. A CEOS WGISS levelező listáján érkezett hír az USGS EROS adatközpontból: 
"NASA transferred operational control of Landsat 8 to the USGS on May 30.  That date marks the beginning of the satellite’s mission to extend an unparalleled four-decade record of monitoring Earth’s landscape from space.  Since the Landsat 8 data became available, users have downloaded over 50,000 scenes.  At that pace, well over a million Landsat 8 scenes will be distributed in the first year.  Landsat 8 images are available to download back to April 12, which is when the satellite reached its nominal altitude of 705 kilometers (438 miles).
