Bekapcsolódási lehetőség az Európai Környezeti Ügynökség (EEA) és a FAO számára készült tezaurusz szerverkliensekkel kapcsolatos szabványos metaadat szolgáltatás kialakítás kérdéseinek nemzetközi megvitatásába. Dr. Karel Charvat, az ENSZ Téradat infrastruktúra kezdeményezés cseh koordinációs irodájának vezetője írja mai levelében:
"Dear all UNSDI and metadata friends,
we would like open debate arrond integration of Thesaurus into metadata.
We developed Thesaurus Web servicesclients for GEMET (EEA) and Agrovoc (FAO).We now started direct integration into ISO19115/19119 and we recognize some problems or not clear or not well defined aspects.
1. What has to be integrated into metadata text or number code. ISO standards seems expected text, but then is almost not possible to guarantee multilinguality search. So we would like suggest to use cods, but there is necessary to discuss this issue more globally, because there is not possible to integrate this into one system. We need find some consensus to guarantee interoperability across Europe
2. The both GEMET and Agrovoc codes are not hierarchical, so we are thinking, how to guarantee search for more specific terms. The one solution is to fulfill into metadata also all broader terms.
3. How to define, which thesaurus is used for search
We would like to start discuss this with broader community. Because we believe, that we have some practical experiences, we would like discuss this more deeply with other team. "
